Italian Elections

Political debates in Italy reflect not only domestic considerations, but also international concerns which are now shaping the electorate; inflation and war. Among the politically committed, the great fear is that many Italians will not go to vote, because they are not enthusiastic about Italian political leadership and Italian political configurations. The paradox is that the activists will actually run and control the Italian political system above and beyond what the electorate might want.

  1. Here is my humble forecast. The right wing will win with a very strong majority. After the vote the judiciary will immediately start cracking down on right wing politicians. EU will slow buying Italian bonds to add to pressure, spread will go up. The governing coalition will be eroded within 12 months and will have to change. Probably some version Draghi will be called back. But he will not last much either.
